Excessive vehicle vibration. From review of www. Tacomaworld. Com forums this is a fairly common occurence with 2nd generation tacomas (2005 to 2015). It seems to stem from the split driveshaft models (prerunners and 4x4s). In some cases it has resulted in vehicles dropping the driveshafts. In my truck, in one day it went to fine to what felt like the worst wheel imbalance I had ever felt. I immediately had my wheels balance and there was no improvement. That's when I went to the forums. . Read more..

The contact owns a 2005 Toyota 4runner. When the vehicle came to a complete stop, there was a two second delay before the vehicle jolted. 1993 honda accord service manual download. The contact stated that it felt as though someone had rear-ended the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently and became progressively worse over time. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the driveshaft was lubricated; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000.

When driving at 70 mph, the vehicle vibrates on the highway. I have taken the vehicle constantly to the dealership for over two years complaining about this problem and they always told me that nothing was wrong. Today (5/10/14), the mechanic at the dealership put the truck on a rack and ran the car at 45 mph and there was visible vibration coming from the drive shaft and a loud noise that I could never hear from within the vehicle. All this time, I have been driving a vehicle that I was unaware could have snapped apart. The sound cannot be heard in the cabin, so I could not even report that as a problem until today. I purchased three sets of new tires, had shocks and struts replaced, and brake pads to no avail. Finally, after searching the web yesterday, I realized that this is a common problem with other vehicles of the same make and model. I'm not sure if this problem has caused injury to others, but there should be a recall. This could cause a potentially fatal accident if that shaft breaks. I read that for similar models (Toyota and Lexus), the manufacturer replaced the parts under warranty, but nothing for the 4runner. The dealership is charging over $700 for this repair.

My 2008 Toyota 4runner has a clunking sound as I am about to take off from a complete stop. I can tell when it will happen because when I am almost stopped, with my foot on the brake, my car feels like it surges forward. I have to push on the brake pretty hard to keep it from doing this. Then when I take my foot off the brake to proceed, there is a 'clunk' from the back end. I took it to my totally dealership today because it is still under warranty (I've had it for a month and it has done it ever since I purchased it). The dealership called the Toyota technical assistance system. The answer they got. . . The condition is a normal operating condition and that no repair attempt should be made. They said it was the driveshaft slip yolk extending and retracting and is normal operating condition of the vehicle. Here is my case number - 091880146, repair order number - 13509, case date - 7/7/09, tas hotline number 1-800-233-3718.

Continuing problem on my 2003 v8 4runner with the drive shaft. When I come to a stop or when I accelerate after a stop there is a momentary lag that feels like a 'clunk' or that someone has just run into your back bumper. Toyota dealer 'fixes' the problem with grease to the slip yoke but after 2,000 miles it comes back and is only getting worse. I've complained to the dealer continually and Lexus 470 (same vehicle) has a TSB on the same occurrence. It has become increasingly annoying and can only be classifies as a dangerous defect.

In general, when I pull up to a stop I sometimes feel a clunk. Then, when I start again, it feels like the brake release is delayed with another clunk. There's a few Lexus gx470 owners (same engine and drivetrain as 4runner) that are complaining at other sites. I've been told the two piece driveshaft gets air compressed inside, and when the compression leaks out, you get the clunk. Lexus is apparently fixing the problem.

1. ) there is a serious 'clunk' noise when braking and also the same noise when starting from a complete stop when you take foot off brake. 2. ) there is 'sulfur smell ' in cabin from catalytic converter.

I have a 2004 limited 4runner Toyota, all wheel drive, with v8. After about 20 thousand miles, my vehicle began making a very loud noise when coming to a stop, while simultaneously surging forward like I was rear ended. This noise also has a distinct metallic sound and jarring vibration each and every time. If the brake is not presses firmly, the car will lounge forward. This noise and 'clanking' also occurs when lifting my foot off of the brake when the car was stopped and not in neutral. I first reported this problem to Toyota about a year ago and they said that it was a lubrication and maintenance issue. The tried to charge me 500 dollars for a four-wheel drive service. When I protested that this was not in the manual, they admitted that they lubricated the propeller shaft and that they wouldn't charge this time. Toyota invoice # w55722. Well, that eliminated about 90 percent of the problem, but the 'clank' came back in about a month. I have recently read that all limited edition 4runners from 03-06 have this clanking problem, in addition to the Lexus GX-470, that shares the same driveshaft. However, Lexus is fixing the problem while Toyota is playing stupid and saying that it is normal. . Read more..

I presently have my 2003 4 runner v8 limited in for the second time in less then a year for air suspension problems. In both cases the air suspension stays in the fully inflated position. They replaced the compressor the first time in (21 days to get parts), and this time they tell me it?s the air release portion of the compressor. Which means their replacing the compressor again (7 days and counting waiting for parts). I also had the vehicle in for a wobbling sound, the problem was a driveshaft that was installed backwards on the assembly line. Toyota indicated that this occurs once in a while during assembly.

Vibration above 70 mph, felt through steering wheel, pedal and floorboard.

When coming to a stop and/or accelerating from a stop the car will jerk forward with a thud. Sometimes two or three thuds are felt and heard. The dealer witnessed this problem and ourisman Toyota in chantilly, va replaced the transmission at 14,500 miles. The problem seemed to go away for a while. I returned to the same dealer with the same complaint at 32,000 miles and they replaced the drive shaft. I returned again on 11/30/04 and the service manager witnessed the same problem within 200 feet of driving. The service manager indicated he believes this is normal (even though this was not a problem till about 12,000 miles). He is going to discuss this with the Toyota rep who is in town this week. I.

2004 sr5 v6 4wd experiences droning vibration or rumbling on floor, pedals, and steering wheel when car is driven between 1500-2000 rpm. Vibrations are significantly worse for ambient temperatures below 35 degrees f. And very bad below 15 degrees f. Also becomes more predominant during acceleration. Vibration dissappears when transmission is shifted into neutral at same speed. Appears problem is in drive train/transaxel and not transmission.

From the date of purchase thered has been a loud 'thud' noise when releasing the brake pedal. This does not occur on a continual or predictable basis. Ford fiesta mk4 manual download. The Toyota dealership examined the 4runner and didn't find the brakes to be faulty; however the sound and a surge are still present it reminds me of the 'thud' sound that was inherent in the t-100 pick-up truck when it was started in reverse. I have an automatic transmission in my vehicle and wonder if failure is imminent there or in the drive shaft. In either case this is an obvious flaw and must be addressed by Toyota. My daughter owned a 2002 Toyota pick-up truck and said it made the same sound for as long as she owned it.

The dealer lubricated the u joint, but the failure recurred a month later. The failure mileage was 2,000 and current mileage was 70,000. Updated 03/04/08. The consumer stated a propeller assembly/driveshaft was needed to correct the problem. Updated.
